The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics is an international research institute with approx. 450 employees, working in the field of molecular genetics. A special focus lies on functional genomics of man and other organisms.
The Max Planck Research Group "Epigenomics" (Head: Dr. Ho-Ryun Chung) invites applications for the following open position:
1 Postdoctoral Scientist (f/m)
Responsibilities:
The group is seeking an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to work in the area of epigenomics in the fruitfly Drosophila melanogaster and mammalian cell lines. Our laboratory is interested in the dynamic behavior of histone modifications during the cell- and transcriptional cycle. Using chromatin immunoprecipitation and next generation sequencing for analysing the whole genome levels of histone modifications the aims of the project are to dissect the cause-effect relationship between histone modifications and the transcriptional process as well as to unravel mechanisms that underly epigenetic inheritance of histone modification states. The group is truly interdisciplinary combining both experimental and computational approaches.
Qualifications:
The candidate should have a doctoral degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or cell biology and preferably experience with chromatin immunoprecipitation and next generation sequencing. The candidates should be strongly motivated, team-oriented, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated record of scientific achievement through peer-reviewed publications.
The position is available immediately for a period of two years with the possibility of prolongation. Salary is according to TVöD, depending on academic level and previous experience.
The Max Planck Society is committed to employing more handicapped individuals and especially encourages them to apply. The Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.
