2 PhD research fellowships within
membrane technology for CO2 capture

At the Department of Chemical Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), 2 PhD fellowships are available for research work within the CO2 capture in The Environmental- and Reactor technology group. The positions are financed from The Norwegian Research Council and Industry on the project "Novel membrane contactor using ionic liquids for pre-combustion Co2 capture". The work will comprise development of highly efficient membranes, membrane contactors and processes with the aims of reducing the pollution and energy cost associated with CO2 capture.

The PhD fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis. Applicants for the fellowships must hold an MSc or similar degree in chemical engineering, material science, physics or organic chemistry, preferably with experimental experience or knowledge from the announced research field. The PhD fellowships are awarded for a total of 3 years or up to 4 years with 25% teaching duties.

NTNU's PhD-rules require a master degree or equivalent with at least 5 years of studies and an average grade of A or B within a scale of A-E for passing grades (A best) for the two last years of the MSc, and C or better on the BSc. Applicants must agree to participate in organized doctoral study programs within the period of the appointment. A contract will be drawn up regarding the period of appointment and work related duties.

All applicants must be able to communicate fluently in English (in speaking and writing). Applicants must indicate their level of language skills in English and Norwegian.

The appointment of the PhD fellows will be made according to national guidelines for appointment of PhD fellows at universities and university colleges and to the general regulations for university employees in Norway.

The start salary for the PhD research fellow is set at level 48, NOK 391.100 (before tax) in the Norwegian state salary scale. 2 % of the salary will be deducted at source as a mandatory premium to the Norwegian State Pension Fund.
