Industrial Liaison Officer (m/f)
Code-no.: 2012/WP 3
The place of employment is Hamburg (outstation at DESY).
The Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht in Geesthacht, near Hamburg, and in Teltow, near Berlin, conducts materials and coastal research. You can find more information at www.hzg.de.
Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht is running the German Engineering Materials Science Centre
(GEMS) based on the complementary use of synchrotron radiation and neutrons (http://gems.hzg.de).
GEMS is operated at outstations at DESY in Hamburg (high-brilliance high-energy photons at
PETRA III and DORIS III) and at the Forschungsneutronenquelle
Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) in Garching
(close to Munich), the most powerful German neutron source. Our instrumentation is optimised for
investigating engineering materials.
We offer beamtime to external users; even though the majority comes from academic research there is an increasing demand by industry. Within the EU INTERREG project “Science Link“ we are promoting industrial research, in particular within the Baltic area. Within this framework, we are searching for an Industrial Liaison Officer m/f based in Hamburg (outstation at DESY).
You will be responsible for the operation of industrial beamtimes. We expect you e.g. to participate in and to present the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht at trade fairs, to proactively approach potential customers from industry, to act as “local contact“ for beamtimes at our instruments (in close collaboration with our instrument scientists), to prepare scientific reports and to publish results. Required for the position is a PhD or equivalent in materials science, physics, physical chemistry or related fields, high flexibility and the ability for independent work. Expertise in materials science and/or the application of synchrotron radiation and/or neutrons for diffraction or imaging is required.
For specific inquiries please contact Dr. Klaus Pranzas
(klaus.pranzas@hzg.de).
For working with us, you should be a team player and have excellent communication and organisational skills. Good English language skills are required; German language skills are an asset.
This position will be starting as soon as possible and is initially limited for two years with the possibility of a further extension.
