The German University in Cairo invites applications for vacancies to commence in the spring 2017 (February) or winter 2017/2018 (September):
The German University in Cairo is looking for highly capable and motivated applicants wishing to join the Architecture and Urban Design Program. The GUC architecture school was founded in 2010 and can now claim to be one of the most attractive programs in Egypt. Situated in Cairo, the dynamic gateway to the Middle East, the GUC Architecture and Urban Design program is growing rapidly. Successful candidates will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate levels, develop ongoing and innovative research activities, and contribute to shaping this young architecture and urban design program. As a member of an international academic team, the candidate will be responsible for:
- introducing fundamentals of physics related to buildings and the effect of environmental forces on buildings as an important part of construction
- fundamentals of technical installations and environmental control systems of buildings
- teaching courses with a focus on innovative climate-adapted building concepts and renewable energy technologies
- the application of building simulation software as a design tool
- supervising master theses
Building technology at GUC is characterized by an integrative design approach where building construction and technology is considered as an essential part of the architectural design process. We encourage and support research activities in those fields.
Candidates should hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. in Architecture/Engineering or Building Physics or equivalent practical experience in the field of technical systems and climate adapted building design and have relevant teaching experience. All courses are taught in English.
