The initial term will be three years. In case of a positive evaluation of the teaching achievements and an external assessment of the research work an extension to in total six years is envisaged. A positive tenure evaluation at the end of the sixth year will lead to the position of an Associate Professor (W2) for life time.

- Digital Learning Systems (e. g. MOOCS, inverted classroom und open educational resources)
- Situated learning und Cognitive Apprenticeship
- Intelligent lecture- and classrooms
An active contribution to research and teaching, including basic education in computer science, is assumed. We expect also the willingness for interdisciplinary research together with the department of Educational Sciences of Saarland University and the interdisciplinary institute for digital education at Saarland University (FoBiD). Examples of such collaborations could be contributions to the Master Program “Educational Technology” e.g. referring to topics like “Constructionism and Computational Thinking”.
The development of the lecture “Computer Supported Education” as well as the education of Ph.D., Master and Bachelor students is required. Teaching languages are English and in undergraduate courses German. We expect sufficient German language skills after an appropriate period.
The applicant should be willing to seek third-party funded projects and also contribute to joint proposals that strengthen the research profile of the Computer Science Department and the Educational Sciences Department, especially by collaborations within the Institute for Computer Supported Education, which will be founded in the near future.
The Computer Science Department at Saarland University combines excellent student training with excellence in research and development. It is regularly found among the

Besides the requirements stipulated by public sector employment law, the necessary qualifications for hiring include tertiary education, pedagogical suitability, particular ability for scientific work, which is generally shown by an outstanding doctoral degree in Computer Science.
