Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of a
Associate Professor
in »Microsensors and Actuators«
to begin in summer term 2022.
Scientific Environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and in the future to the TUM School of Computation, Information & Technology. Together with further professorships it shall build up a focus area for micro-structured sensors, actuators, and integrated micro-/nanosystems and strengthen TUM’s expertise in this field. The research of the professorship is intended to lie in the field of design, modeling and characterization methods for novel device and system concepts. Connections to a variety of the department’s professorships will embed the new professorship into the department’s and school structure. A close relationship between scientific research and applied industrial research in the field of microsystems design and engineering is expected.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as supervision and promotion of young scientists. We are looking for an expert in the research field of microsensors and actuators with a focus on at least one of the following areas: Design, architecture, modeling and prototype application of micro-structured sensor or actuator systems, distributed multi-sensor systems and associated electronics, expertise in modeling approaches on process, device and system-level. Teaching responsibilities include participation in mandatory and elective courses of the bachelor's program as well as in the master's programs at TUM. Participation in the committees of the faculty is expected.
Qualifications
We seek to appoint an expert with a high scientific reputation and outstanding achievements in research and teaching. The candidate is expected to develop science and teaching in the subject area in a trend-setting and future-oriented way. A university degree, an outstanding doctorate or a comparable special qualification for scientific work, special pedagogical aptitude, proven by relevant teaching activities and excellent evaluations, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites.
