Scientific Environment
The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Medicine, one of Germany’s top medical schools in research and teaching focusing on interdisciplinary and translational research. The professorship will be part of the Institute for AI and Informatics in Medicine at TUM’s university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar. The Institute focuses on artificial intelligence and medical informatics, as well as on development and evaluation of statistical and data science methods for medical research. Close collaborations within the School of Medicine, with TUM’s life science and natural science departments, with scientists from LMU and non-university research institutions, the DIFUTURE consortium, the Munich Data Science Institute, as well as TUM’s established collaborative research centers foster an outstanding scientific environment.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Biostatistics and Clinical Epidemiology with a focus on methodological problems arising in medical and clinical trials as well as clinical epidemiology. Topics of relevance include innovative methods in big data analysis, causal inference, design and analysis of clinical trials, and analysis of high-dimensional data. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs. In addition, the professorship is expected to offer statistical and methodological advisory consulting services for TUM researchers and medical students.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with outstanding scientific experience and qualifications, as demonstrated by achievements in research and teaching at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude and the ability to teach in English, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad, full commitment to conduct interdisciplinary research, as well as the proven capability to establish, acquire and lead competitive and cooperative research projects in biostatistics, is expected.
Profound knowledge in modern methods of biostatistics and clinical epidemiology as well as in the design, statistical supervision, and analyses of clinical studies and clinical trials, and analyses of multivariate and high-dimensional data is expected (please see
