»Manufacturing Systems and Assembly Solutions«
as a tenured W3 position to be exercised in conjunction with the post of
Director of the Fraunhofer Research
Institution for Casting, Composite and
Processing Technology (IGCV)
to begin in winter semester 2020/21.
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Mechanical
Engineering. The professorship is associated with the post of
Director of Fraunhofer IGCV responsible for the scientific field of
Processing Technology, which spans scientific-technical and
entrepreneurial management and development of the research
institution within the Fraunhofer model and the overall strategy of
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the
promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert
in the research area of Manufacturing Systems and Assembly
Solutions. The teaching load includes courses in the university's
bachelor and master programs.
We are looking for a candidate with high international reputation
who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an
internationally recognized research program. A university degree
and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific
qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to
teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research
experience abroad as well as work experience in industry is
expected. Furthermore, leadership experience from larger,
interdisciplinary research groups, experience in the strategic
planning, acquisition and implementation of large-scale national
and international research and development projects in different
business areas, and expertise in increasing efficiency in
development processes and technology utilization is also required.
