The Center for Molecular Medicine Cologne (CMMC) is a multidisciplinary center at the University of Cologne providing a forum that brings
together physician scientists with basic researchers from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences to
perform competitive basic, disease-oriented research. The mission of the CMMC is to advance the understanding of the underlying molecular

The Center for Molecular Medicine Cologne invites applications for a full-time
Junior Research Group Leader (f/m) to conduct independent research in molecular medicine in one of the research areas of the CMMC
This appointment, equivalent to a non-tenured W2-professorial position, is available for applicants holding MD, MD/PhD or PhD degree and
will be offered for a period of five years with the possibility of an extension for additional three years. Payment and social benefits are
in accordance with the regulations of the German salary agreement for public service employees (TV-L).
The position includes funding of a research associate (Post Doc), a PhD student and a technician, soft money for consumables, as well as
start-up financing. Significant institutional support, including modern laboratory space and state-of-the-art facilities in addition to
career advancing training and mentoring support will be provided by the CMMC.
The CMMC also offers an excellent scientific environment by its close interactions with Collaborative Research Centers and Research Units
of the DFG on the Campus, the local Max-Planck Institutes for Biology of Ageing and for Metabolism Research, the Cologne Excellence Cluster
CECAD, the Cologne Center for Genomics (CCG) and the Center for Integrated Oncology (CIO).
The CMMC seeks to appoint candidates with an innovative biomedical research interest in addition to an excellent track record in research,
the capacity to establish and further develop an international research team to develop independent research programs with extramural funding
and to complement the existing strengths and the interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of the CMMC and the institutions at the Cologne
Life Science Campus. Motivation to further develop academic teaching experience and qualifications (e.g. support to obtain the Habilitation
will be provided) is expected.
