Venture Labs, the new lighthouse initiative by TUM and UnternehmerTUM, aims to transform Munich into the most advanced
European tech hub At the interdisciplinary interfaces of natural, life and engineering sciences, the TUM Venture Labs support
scalable tech venture projects, leveraging the strong local research base. These should address the enormous market
opportunities in their respective fields, while contributing to European tech sovereignty and tackling societal topics. Robotics and
Artificial Intelligence are key enabling technologies, drastically accelerating the development of deep tech business opportunities
across industries. The Robotics/ AIV enture Lab has a dual mission:
- Breed the next unicorns in Robotics and AI
- Team with other TUM Venture Labs to leverage the power of Robotics and AI to address the opportunities in the other fields,
from Health Care, Life Sciences and Sustainability all the way to Quantum, Aerospace, Mobility and more.
We are looking for a:
Managing Director for the TUM Robotics/AI Venture Lab (m/w/d)
(two (2) years contract)
Key responsibilities:
- Ramp up of the TUM Robotics/ AI Venture Lab
- Full operative responsibility and management over the TUM Robotics/ AI Venture Lab and its team with direct reporting to the
TUM Venture Lab Centre
- Close coordination with the Academic Directors, the TUM start up consultants and the Venture Directors of the TUM
Robotics/AI Venture Lab
- Lead planning, development and implementation of educational/venturing programs
- Oversee management of lab space and its infrastructure
- Instil entrepreneurial mindset and cross functionality in talent pipeline, advance innovations and provide strategic direction
based on economically/socially relevant topics
- External representative of TUM Robotics/ AI Venture Lab and direct counterpart to relevant partners
- Build strong network within relevant technology fields, local communities and with strategic partners
Requirements:
- Business and technical background in relevant fields with 3+ years project management/leadership experience in either
academics, venture capital, strategic consulting, startups or corporate environment
- Successfully completed PhD/MSc preferentially in robotics industrial engineering, business management, or comparable
studies
- Entrepreneurial mind set with clear enthusiasm for high tech innovations especially in the Robotics and AI industry
- Profound social and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and cultivate a highly dynamic team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and German with high level of comfort communicating
effectively across internal and external organizations across hierarchies

The position is initially limited to two years. Employment and remuneration is in accordance with TV-L E13
