on MR-guided Proton Therapy
We are looking for a PhD student to work in the development of a treatment planning tool for MRI-guided proton therapy. The PhD student will help to design a novel strategy for treatment planning adaptation for delivery of intensity modulated proton therapy plans in the presence of an MRI scanner. For this, the in-house open source treatment planning system matRad will be extended to incorporate the effect of the magnetic field on the proton beam. In addition, a treatment planning workflow for MRI-guided proton therapy shall be designed and verified by Monte Carlo transport simulations and experimental measurements. Finally, treatment planning studies for tumours subjected to large motion are foreseen to investigate the potential of real-time plan adaptation in future MR-guided proton therapy.
We are looking for a self-dependent candidate with a genuine interest in scientific programming in radiation therapy. The candidate should have a strong background in physics, mathematics, and/or computer science. Background and experience in treatment planning, Monte Carlo simulations and dose calculation are beneficial but not essential.
