https://www.open-iba.de/en/ and
https://www.open-iba.de/en/memorandum/ For the transboundary region Alzette Belval (LUX/F) the IBA program wishes to focus on communal housing and its amenities. Both Luxemburg and France are - for the foreseeable future - in need of high quantities of quality oriented and affordable housing ensembles. Alternative modes of living as well as alternative ways of project management, financing models, soil occupation, ...will be decisive vectors for the program and research. Moreover, the University of Luxemburg wishes to play a key role in the research-by-design atelier linked to the pre-IBA phase and the expected forthcoming IBA trajectory (2022-2033) The Post-Doc candidate will be working under the supervision of dr. Prof. Florian Hertweck. The IBA atelier will be co-led by arch. and Visiting Professor Peter Swinnen.
Your Role
As a Post-Doc researcher, you will perform research on recent and historical typologies of (transboundary) communal living (architectural, legislation, economical). You will lead the research-by-design IBA atelier, guaranteeing the necessary bilateral and ongoing negotiated contacts with the IBA‘s stakeholders as well as master the fluid development of the overall IBA pre-process. The latter will be conducted in close collaboration with the GECT and EPA. The link between public policy making and spatial design will be a leading concept for the theoretical research and research by design. Internationally validated practice experience in the field of architecture and urbanism is a minimum requirement. Knowledge and practice expertise in the field of political economy is a plus. Interest in the field of French-Luxemburgish building legislation is recommendable. The candidate can present both a strong theoretical and practice based professional curriculum.
