The Department of Hematology and Cell Therapy (Director: Prof. Uwe
Platzbecker) in the Medical Clinic and Policlinic I, Leipzig University Hospital,
invites applications for a
Post-Doc in Experimental Hematology
to lead a research group investigating the regulatory environment of the osteohematopoietic
niche.
This work will focus on myelodysplasia and the translation of basic research into
clinical applications by:
- deciphering the role played by the microenvironment in bone marrow failure;
- characterizing the determinants of pre-leukemic and leukemic transformation;
- identifying novel drug targets;
- establishing drug-screening platforms, including pre-clinical models.
The successful candidate will have:
- a Ph.D. and/or M.D. with post-doctoral experience in hematology or a closely
related field
- a strong record of high impact research in molecular cell biology/biochemistry
and preferably in the use of in vivo models
- the ability to secure independent research funding
- good interpersonal, team and communication skills
- proficiency in spoken and written English
Additional experience in flow cytometry, next generation sequencing, ChIPseq,
Hi-C, bioinformatics, computer modelling, and single cell techniques would be
an advantage.
This position is available for 3 years in the first instance, with a potential tenure
track option thereafter. The Department of Hematology and Cell Therapy
combines an innovative clinical hematology program with cutting edge research
into the mechanisms of normal and malignant hematopoiesis and we are
looking for a highly motivated individual who will make maximum use of our
