Postdoctoral Position in Model Reduction and Surrogate Modelling
The
Computational Science Section at the
Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a two-year postdoc research position starting as soon as possible. The position is embedded in an interdisciplinary project supported by the Climate & Energy Fund of the Austrian Research Foundation. The international consortium consists of ESS Engineering Software Steyr GmbH, Austria, TU Graz (Institute of Thermal Engineering), Austria, TU Kaiserslautern (Chair for Scientific Computing), Germany, and SDU (IMADA, Computational Science Section), Denmark.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a PhD in applied mathematics, computational engineering, or related fields who would like take part in making the automotive industry more economic and "greener". The project involves innovations that target energy savings corresponding to a yearly reduction of 1.5 million tons of C02! Tasks include the development and implementation of reduced-order and surrogate models for solver acceleration and surrogate-based optimization, respectively.
The ideal candidate is well acquainted with one or more of the following areas: scientific computing, partial differential equations, model reduction, surrogate modelling, software engineering, high-performance computing. The project may open up future career paths in academia as well as in industry.
