Postdoctoral Research Fellow (three years fixed-term) in theoretical condensed-matter physics.
Applications are invited for a three year fixed-term postdoctoral fellowship in theoretical condensed-matter physics. The successful candidate will work with Professors Michele Governale and Uli Zuelicke in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences at Victoria University of Wellington. Research projects will be focused on the theoretical study of unusual electronic, magnetic and optical properties, especially magneto-electricity, of novel materials such as 2D atomic crystals, topological insulators and Dirac/Weyl semimetals. We are looking for a person who is excited about investigating fundamental physical phenomena, curious about exploring their potential for realising novel electronic-device applications, and able to seek/use opportunities for engaging fruitfully with experimentalists.
A PhD in theoretical physics, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work in a team are essential requirements. Research experience relevant to the project topics will be a plus.
