The Faculty of Geosciences at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Germany, invites applications for a
Professor of Sedimentology (W2)
at the Institute of Geology and Palaeontology.
Applicants must have a strong background in both research and teaching in the field of clastic sedimentology. Potential research fields include, e.g., palaeoenvironmental reconstructions, palaeoclimatology, sediment transport and related hazards, and sedimentary geochemistry. The successful candidate will have a strong international profile in process-oriented research, a record of using analytical/quantitative methods, a broad interest in geosciences, and proven success in the acquisition of external funding. A willingness to cooperate with other research groups ofthe Institute and the Faculty of Geoscience is also required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching sedimentology in its full breadth in the Geosciences BSc and MSc and in associated BSc programmes (e.g., landscape ecology). The Organization of field and iaboratory courses, as well as a contribution to multidisciplinary courses is required.
To be considered forthis position, candidates must have academic achievements made as a junior professor (assistant professor), in a Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member ofthe academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research Position in business, industry or other relevant fields in Germany or abroad.
