PROFESSORSHIP W3
IN THE DOMAIN OF
MACHINE ELEMENTS
AND DIGITAL ENGINEERING
DESIGN
Ref. No. P2101
The School of Mechanical Engineering is looking for a person who, starting from mechanical
engineering, will advance the field of development of machine elements and
computer aided design with a high level of commitment in research and teaching at
the TUHH. The professorship requires in-depth knowledge and experience in the fields
of machine elements, product development and the application of software in design
(DMU, CAD, PDM, CAx, etc.) in order to research novel sensor-integrated machine elements
for future smart, networked products including cyber-physical systems on the
one hand and to enable the design process for such future-proof products in an increasingly
globalised and networked world with software support on the other hand.
Pioneering research is expected, in cooperation with the TUHH’s main research areas,
especially in the fields of digitalisation, engineering methods, and aviation and maritime
systems. Applications are invited from individuals from research and industry with a
background in mechanical engineering who have a proven research profile in one or
more of the following subfields:
- Development of smart machine elements with sensors, actuators and/or adaptronics
for smart products and their design methods.
- Development of CAx process chains using new digital methods and tools for digital
development (engineering methods).
- Application areas should be products and systems oriented towards the research
fields of the TUHH, especially the fields of aeronautical engineering, maritime systems,
medical engineering, climate-friendly energy and environmental engineering.
The professorship is linked to the directorship of the future Institute of Machine Elements
and Digital Engineering Design at TUHH. The professorship’s area of responsibility includes,
among other things, engineering education in the basic subject of mechanical
design including machine elements as well as teaching of digital design tools in the
mechanical engineering degree programme and other Bachelor’s and Master’s degree
programmes in coordination with other lecturers.
The deadline for applications is April 29, 2021.
