Research Group Leader (f/m) (W2, tenure track)
Max-Planck-Institut für chemische Energiekonversion (MPI CEC)
The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion in Mülheim an der Ruhr is an internationally leading research institution dealing with the fundamental challenges at the interface of energy and chemistry. Our scientists are engaged in molecular processes that are essential for the conversion, storage and utilisation of renewable energy.
The institute invites applications for a full-time
Research Group Leader (f/m)
in a W2 position (tenure track)
to conduct independent research in "Operando Organometallic Catalysis" in close cooperation with the Department of ,Molecular Catalysis’.
The area of operando spectroscopic analysis shall be developed in a highly interdisciplinary environment as a central pillar within the design methods for organometallic catalysis as related to small molecule activation. The successful candidate has an established track record in catalyst development and catalysis research with a distinct profile in spectroscopic methods for investigations under turnover conditions. A specific focus on magnetic resonance techniques is desired.
This appointment, equivalent to a W2-position ((BesGr. W2 (BBesG)), is available for applicants holding a PhD degree in molecular or engineering sciences. Successful demonstration of a potential for independent research is essential. Experience
with supervision of students and/or postdocs and with grant applications is desired. The contract will be for five years with the possibility of an extension for two years after positive evaluation and depending on the labour law options. In addition, you receive a guarantee that you will participate in a W2 Tenure Track procedure at the latest before the end of the two-year extension period. In case of positive evaluation, both the W2 position and the Research Group will be made permanent. Tenure can also be granted earlier dependent on the corresponding qualification of the candidate.
The Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply. It is also committed to employing more disabled persons and expressly encourages their applications.
Please submit your application with a detailed CV, potential references, a list of publications and lectures, a selection of five most important publications and a
research concept by October 31, 2018 under "Operando001" to:
