echnical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for
the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in »Precision Agriculture«
to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position
(6 years) with tenure track option to a tenured W3 position (Associate
Professor).
Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Life Sciences
Weihenstephan and will be cross-appointed to the Department of
Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the
promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in
the research area of precision agriculture with a focus on at least one
of the following topics: robotics in agricultural or horticultural plant
production, computer modelling and simulation of plant populations,
plant-environment interaction and their control, sensor fusion and
vertical farming applications. The successful candidate will establish
an internationally visible research program at the interface between
agricultural and horticultural sciences, mechanical engineering as
well as electrics, electronics and/or information technology. The
teaching load includes courses in the university‘s bachelor and
master programs, in particular in the agricultural and horticultural
sciences.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with a university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, who has demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, regarding the relevant career level. The applicants may have university and/or industry experience. International scientific experience during the doctoral or postdoctoral phase is expected. The successful candidate shows pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English.
Candidates are expected to be fully committed to collaborate with the department‘s theoretical and experimental groups, to interact with related groups in the greater Munich research area and to participate in interdisciplinary research collaborations.
