The research group of Prof. Jutta L. Mueller (Psycholinguistics) at the Institute of Linguistics of the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies of the University of Vienna, is offering a position for a university assistant (post doc). The position involves the development of an independent research program in the field of psycho- and neurolinguistics as well as teaching and co-supervision of more junior researchers. The research topic should fit into one of the broad topics of the group, including e.g. prediction in language processing, language acquisition and learning, or language and its interface with cognition. There is access to an EEG/fNIRS lab specialized for research with participants of all age groups. Additional methods that are available include f/MRI and eye-tracking.
Duration of employment: 6 year/s
Extent of Employment: 40.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
The position involves active participation in research, teaching and administration. This includes
- Involvement in research projects (research design, data acquisition, data processing and evaluation)
- Developing and strengthening an independent research profile
- International publications and presentations
- Possibility for project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Co-supervision of PhD students
- Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
- Involvement in the institute's administration as well as in research administration
Profile:
- Doctoral/PhD degree in psychology, linguistics, cognitive (neuro)science or related area
- Research background in experimental and/or computational modeling approaches to language and/or cognition
- Experience and excellent analysis skills with at least one neuroimaging method (e.g. EEG/ECoG/fMRI/fNIRS)
- solid skills in statistical modeling using R
- Didactic competence as demonstrated in supervision and teaching experience
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Publications in internationally renowned, peer-reviewed journals
- Ability to work in an interdiciplinary team
Desirable qualifications are
- Experience of working on research projects related to language
- Experience of presenting research at international workshops and conferences
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Experience abroad
