University Assistant (prae doc)
at the Department of Statistics and Operations Research

The positions are meant to support young scientists through their Ph.D. research. Employment (30 hrs/week) is based on 4-year contracts.
The successful applicants will enter the department's Ph.D. program and are expected to work on one of the following topics: Bayesian approaches to non-linear dimension reduction techniques or classification of dependent data.
Duration of employment: 4 year/s
Extent of Employment: 30.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
Participation in research, teaching:
- Participation in research projects / research studies
- Particpation in publications / academic articels / presentations
- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Help with the department administration
We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
Profile:
A Master’s or comparable degree in statistics, mathematics, or a closely related discipline (completed or pending completion); a solid background in statistics and probability theory;
a promising potential for original research
