Visiting Lecturer in Digital Humanities
ITMO University‘s Digital Humanities Center (DHC) invites applications for the position of a
Visiting Lecturer in Digital Humanities at the Data, Culture and Visualization (DCV) Master's program.
Job description
The position involves teaching at the postgraduate level, as well as developing a course comprised of no less than 8 academic hours on the basis of elementary materials and popular explanation within the frame of digital humanities tools, theory, history, etc. DH Center is seeking for applicants with a strong academic background in a relevant humanities discipline, including experience of developing digital humanities teaching materials and demonstrable expertise in working with digital sources and methods of digital enquiry. The successful candidate will possess both research publications and teaching experience within digital humanities.
You will work in a team of young DH professionals and motivated interdisciplinary students at one of Russia's leading higher education and research institutions. DH Center is open to any kinds of cooperation with lecturers beyond teaching activities, including research/project work, public city events and other activities of different formats. Dates and duration of a visit depend on the subject area selected by an applicant. Other conditions are flexible and open to discussion. The position is based in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Visiting researcher‘s job responsibilities are:
- To design and deliver a course within one of the curriculum subject
- To carry out other forms of teaching activity including work associated with examinations (setting and marking papers and providing constructive feedback to students)
- To inspire postgraduate students under the guidance of a mentor / module leader and develop skills in assessment methods and in providing constructive feedback to students

The Master of Science in Data, Culture and Visualization (DCV) program focuses on the work with the full lifecycle of cultural data, from data acquisition, manipulation and storage to statistical analysis and interpretation, as well as dissemination of cultural data artifacts through visual and narrative means. Among our projects are a retrospective visualization of key St. Petersburg landmarks; the book Generation Z on Digital Culture; a data visualization project for the GULAG History Museum; and Fortepan Russia. We also promote the digital humanities culture by giving open lectures in collaboration with IT professionals, humanities specialists, DH researchers and practitioners in St. Petersburg.
