The German International University (GIU) is a German cultural institution located in the New
Administrative Capital, Egypt, and established under the frame of the Cultural Agreement of 1960
and 1984 concluded between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Federal Republic of Germany.
GIU was established in cooperation with the German State Universities of Applied Sciences,
notably
HTW Berlin, HWR Berlin, TH Ulm, and HHN.

Methodology
Job Profile
We are looking for a designer personality who represents the field of applied design methodology.
Design methodology and project work, who is willing to initiate and accompany projects in an
interdisciplinary context. A personality with proven artistic-design qualifications and extensive
professional experience in the areas of design methods, variant formation, evaluation criteria,
design supervision, and the industrial designer's areas of responsibility is expected.
Specific knowledge and experience is desired in at least one of the following areas of expertise:
Experience in Universal Design, Interdisciplinary research activity on current design topics,
Intercultural experience in the design process.
Qualifications
- Candidates should have a university degree in industrial or product design.
- Appropriate teaching experience in design courses and relevant experience in applied
research and development.
- Design-relevant skills and conceptual basics.
- Clear and applied teaching of comprehensive methodological and theoretical basics,
students should be enabled to work on low and highly complex tasks from various areas of
industrial design (from transportation to consumer goods and capital goods design)
- A teaching concept is expected that integrates the teaching areas into the first and second
study phases of the bachelor's program and implements the focus on universal design,
which is firmly anchored in the curriculum.
- Experience in team-based work in line with industry standards and participation in
academic self-administration is explicitly expected.
- Communication skills and knowledge of common software applications.
- English language skills
Appointment Terms
The position is to be filled by the Spring semester (February 2022). Appointment to this position
will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Positional classification (lecturer,
assistant, or full professor) and salaries will be matching the qualifications and relevant experience
of the candidate. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual
agreement.
