Full Professor or Associate Professor in theoretical physics with focus on new quantum phenomena in solid state and nanoscale systems
The Department of Physics and Astronomy, Aarhus University, Denmark ( www.phys.au.dk) invites applications for a permanent associate or full professor position in theoretical quantum physics.
The Department seeks to complement and/or strengthen its existing activities in quantum optics and cold atomic physics with a strong theoretical research program and teaching in complex quantum systems and quantum technologies.
The position is open from July 1 2020 or as soon as possible hereafter.
The successful candidate will establish a research activity, which may include many-body physics and quantum gases, nanophotonics and integrated photonics, optomechanics, physics at surfaces and interfaces, superconducting quantum devices or semiconductor quantum optics, and range from the development of applications to foundational investigations in quantum and statistical physics. We are particularly looking for applicants who will strengthen and/or supplement and interact with the quantum science and condensed matter research groups at Aarhus University and who will contribute to the development of the research field within the Department.
Applicants must have a strong record of original scientific research at international level and they are invited to document examples of collaborative research and external funding. Applicants must hold a PhD in physics and be able to teach physics at all levels of the University curriculum.
Applicants are expected to document their experience with all facets of university teaching, including the supervision of MSc and PhD students.
Equality and diversity
The department is committed to promote equality and diversity, and, in addition to a strong research track record, the successful applicant(s) is encouraged to show a genuine commitment to develop and identify the role and talent of under-represented groups in physics, and demonstrate an interest in contributing to innovative, programs that will target these groups at all levels.
