The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
in »Mathematical Statistics«
to begin in summer semester 2019. The position is a tenured W3 position.
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Mathematics. The department is at the interface of mathematics and science, engineering
and economics and with this profile one of Europe’s leading centers for mathematics. Due to an international faculty, English spoken Master
courses as well as the elite programs "TopMath" and "Finance and Information Management", the department attracts outstanding
students on all levels. Close collaborations with the Max Planck Institute of Plasma Physics and the Helmholtz Research Center for Environmental
Health provide a stimulating research environment.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint a cutting edge
researcher in the area of Mathematical Statistics. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs with a special emphasis on engineering aspects.
We are looking for a candidate with high international reputation who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally
recognized research program. A university degree and an excellent doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical
aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected as well as the
ability to bring a new and highly innovative research profile into the department and the scientific community of TUM.
