University of Potsdam invites applications for
Junior Professorship (W1)
for Physiology of Nutrition
(Tenure Track)
Applications are strongly encouraged from highly qualified scientists who can
demonstrate, through their achievements in research and teaching, that they have
extraordinary potential to investigate physiology-based research questions in the
area of nutritional science. Their research focus should be on molecular mechanisms
of nutrition-related diseases, primarily concerning the investigation of age-related
diseases, especially the role of protein modifications. The research aim is to develop
nutritional strategies that influence the aging process and age-related diseases by
modulating protein modifications.
Preference will be given to candidates with special qualifications, specifically those
with proven experience in physiology of nutrition. Applicants must have a university
degree in natural sciences, medicine or veterinary medicine, as well as a doctorate,
preferably in the field of physiology of nutrition. An independent performance history
including internationally visible contributions, sustainable success and experience in
the acquisition of third-party funds is required.
The successful candidate will be expected to assist in the national and international
advancement of teaching and research in the field of physiology, contributing
substantially to the visibility of the field.
The teaching obligations include at first four semester hours in English and German
in the bachelor’s and master’s courses of the Department of Nutritional Science at
the University of Potsdam.
The following application requirements for junior professors must be documented
in accordance with Section 45 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act
(Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz, BbgHG): a completed university degree,
pedagogical aptitude, and a special ability for scientificwork, typically documented by
a dissertation project of outstanding quality. International experience, an outstanding
publication record, and teaching experience are also desirable.
The qualifications necessary for an appointment under Section 45 of the Brandenburg
Higher Education Act (Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz, BbgHG) apply.
