PROFESSORSHIP W1 WITH TENURE TRACK W3 IN THE DOMAIN OF RESILIENT AND SUSTAINABLE OPERATIONS AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

The School of Management Sciences and Technology seeks applications that foster research and teaching in Operations and Supply Chain Management at TUHH. This junior professorship requires profound knowledge and experience in the field of operations and supply chain management and with respect to resilient and sustainable supply chains. The target group are early-career scientists who have achieved a doctoral degree of outstanding quality. Applicants are expected to have undertaken independent research and to be skilled in teaching. They must show a strong interest in interdisciplinary work with the engineering sciences present at TUHH (e.g. mobility systems, production technologies, environmental and energy systems, and machine learning in engineering). Moreover, journal publications, grant acquisitions, and/or practical experience from industry, consulting or project work are advantageous. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with a background in Operations and Supply Chain Management, including but not limited to
- Resilient and sustainable operations and supply chain strategies and design
- Technology implementation and utilisation in supply chains
- Integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in logistics information flows and decision processes
- Simulations for resilient and resource-efficient logistics and supply chains
- Supply chain risk management
- Management of product variety and complexity for supply chain resilience, efficiency, and sustainability
The successful candidate will offer courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, primarily in the Industrial Engineering as well as the Logistics and Mobility degree programmes. Experience with teaching and student supervision in the field of Operations and Supply Chain Management is desirable. Collaboration with research and industry partners requires a good command of both English and German.
This position is due to commence as soon as possible.
For W1 with tenure track to W3 professorships, the initial appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of renewal for a further three years after a positive interim evaluation. Following another positive evaluation in the final year, the candidate will be tenured at professorial level (W3). TUHH acknowledges exceptional and innovative teaching achievements and capabilities. Successful applicants will therefore contribute to its prominent role of innovative teaching methods with high-quality undergraduate (BSc) and graduate (MSc) courses. The courses are offered in German and English; a willingness to learn German is expected from non-German speakers.
