Professor
in » Animal Nutrition & Metabolism «
W2 Tenure Track Assistant Professor (with tenure track to W3) or W3 Associate/Full Professor; to begin as soon as possible.
Scientific Environment
The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Life Sciences and will join the Department Molecular Life Sciences. TUM School of Life Sciences is located at the interdisciplinary campus Freising – Weihenstephan with ample opportunities for collaborations in the areas of bio- and agricultural sciences, animal and human nutrition and within the focus area of microbiome research. The TUM School of Life Sciences provides an outstanding infrastructure with core facilities in proteomics, FACS, microscopy as well as small and large animal research units. This professorship will play a central role within animal sciences, as well as in the World Agricultural Systems Center - Hans Eisenmann Forum for Agricultural Sciences and, depending on the focus, in the Center for Integrated Infection Prevention.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We are looking for an expert in the field of animal nutrition & metabolism. The overriding goal should be sustainability of animal husbandry and the improvement of animal health and wellbeing. Possible areas of focus are the effects of nutrition on metabolism and microbiome, efficiency of feed conversion or research into novel human inedible animal feed. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university's bachelor and master programs, including Agricultural Biosciences, Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, and optionally Nutritional Sciences, Molecular Biotechnology and Biology.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, relative to the relevant career level (please see

A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
