The University of Bayreuth is a research-oriented university with internationally competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in
research and teaching. At the beginning of 2019, the „Africa Multiple“ Cluster of Excellence (EXC 2052) will commence
operations with funding from the Excellence Strategy of Germany‘s federal and state governments. The aim of the cluster is
to reconfigure African studies at both the conceptual and the structural levels. The cluster is conceived as a transformative
space for the systematic study of African and African diasporic ways of life, enabling new forms of inter- and transdisciplinary
cooperation.
The new position within the cluster need to be filled by January 1st, 2019 or soon thereafter. Successful applicants will
carry out a wide variety of activities in a dynamic and motivated team focusing on a strategically important field of work.
Quality Manager (E 13, TV-L)
The Quality Assurance division is assigned to the Management Board of the Cluster of
Excellence and functions as has central service function within the Cluster. The Quality
Manager‘s responsibilities include the following:
- development, implementation and further development of a comprehensive quality assurance
system and process management within the framework of the cluster at the University
of Bayreuth and at our partner institutions in Africa;
- planning, execution, and evaluation of internal and external evaluations;
- providing services to safeguard and improve the research quality of the cluster.
We welcome applications from candidates with the following profile:
- a degree in the Humanities, Social Sciences, or Economics;
- ideally, completion of vocational training with several years of professional experience in the
university sector or a comparable field;
- experience in the field of quality assurance (especially at universities);
- assertiveness, a pronounced ability to think in a structured and conceptual way in addition
to well-honed social skills, and in addition above-average ability to cope with pressure, and
a willingness to cooperate.
Applicants should
- appreciate varied tasks and have a keen eye for detail;
- be able to work on new topics independently as well as coordinate projects in a team;
- think in an analytic and process-oriented way and work carefully, systematically, and on their
own initiative;
- be good communicators and have very good written and spoken German and English
and ideally additional foreign language skills;
- take a service-oriented approach to members of the cluster at all times;
- be willing to travel on business;
- have advanced MS Office skills and experience in dealing with data management systems.
If the personal and collectively agreed conditions are met, the salary will fall into the pay grade
E 13 TV-L. The place of employment is Bayreuth. The incumbent will be hired for the duration
of the funding period of the Cluster of Excellence, i.e. for seven years.
