The 'Munich Center for the Economics of Aging' (MEA) at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy offers a full time position for an experienced
to join the Survey Methodology Department. The position is limited to a maximum of two years.
The responsibilities would consist of multiple tasks related to the implementation of wave 8:
Being a liaison to survey agencies and country teams for requesting deliverables concerning the sampling of respondents in SHARE
Help with conceptual development of routines to evaluate the appropriateness and correctness of complex sampling designs
Collecting and processing gross samples
Provide assistance in calculating response and retention rates
Help with harmonizing sampling frames between different surveys
Conduct own (methodological) research with SHARE data
The ideal candidate would bring the following qualifications:
University degree in social sciences, demography, statistics, economics, public health, epidemiology, or a related field (with or without PhD)
Extensive knowledge of quantitative data analysis and statistical software (Stata) and MS Office applications
Experience with managing SHARE in a participating country, ideally experience in methodological issues (e.g. sampling, weighting, analysing nonresponse)
Experience in cross-national, input-harmonized surveys
Excellent command of spoken and written English
Track record of self-organized & highly proactive working style
Team player mentality with proven management experience
Interest in own research on substantive or methodological topics (willingness to pursue a PhD for pre-doc applicants)
