Survey Specialist (f/m/d) in the research project Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE)
The 'Munich Center for the Economics of Aging' (MEA) at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy offers a full-time position as a
in the research project Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). The position is limited to a two-year contract. SHARE is the largest social
science panel study in Europe. The data set combines extensive cross-national information on socio-economic status, health, and family relations of Europe's elder population.
The responsibilities would consist of multiple tasks:
Preparation of future waves of data collection, including questionnaire development, testing of software tools and documentation of development process
Ongoing conceptual and technical development of the Blaise-implemented CAPI questionnaire
Developing and managing test routines for the software packages (Sample Management
System and CAPI questionnaire)
Support in operational tasks such as tracking down deliverables from contractors
Pursue own research ideas and produce peer reviewed papers, either on substantive or methodological topics
The ideal candidate would bring the following qualifications:
University degree in social sciences, economics, public health, epidemiology, demography,
statistics, or a related field
Experience with survey data, preferably with SHARE data
Experience with translation procedures and handling translation tools
Experience with questionnaire development
Extensive knowledge of quantitative data analysis and statistical software (Stata, SPSS, etc.) and MS Office applications
Excellent command of spoken and written English; other languages are welcome
Self-organized & highly proactive working style
Team player mentality
Interest in own research on substantive or methodological topics
