The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in » Experimental MR-Imaging«
to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track option to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor).
TUM School of Medicine is one of Germany‘s top medical schools in research and in teaching. The professorship will be part of the Institute of diagnostic and interventional Radiology at the university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of experimental MR-Imaging. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research and teaching in new quantitative MRI techniques with a focus on musculoskeletal and metabolic MR-Imaging. The teaching load includes courses in the subject area and the basic courses offered by the department as well as courses for other academic TUM departments.
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. Appointment is contingent upon your acquisition of a personal research grant within the scope of the Heisenberg, ERC, NIH or other comparable top-level scientific funding program.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor. The regulations of the TUM Faculty Recruitment and Career System apply.
TUM provides excellent working conditions in a lively scientific community, embedded in the vibrant research environment of the Greater Munich Area. As a rule, the holder of this professorship is not employed as a „Beamter“ under German law.
