Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in » Healthy Ageing and Physical Activity «
to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track option to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor). The professorship is funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Sport and Health Sciences. Establishing multidisciplinary connections both within the Department of Sport and Health Sciences and to other TUM Departments (e.g. to the Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Informatics, Architecture and/or to the TUM Schools of Education, Governance, Life Sciences) is expected.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of physical activity in the elderly, considering important dimensions and their determinants of the biopsychosocial model of health. The focus should be on physical activity-related determinants of healthy ageing and development of strategies for long-term health at a higher age. Coordination and implementation of cross-disciplinary research (in particular intervention studies) in the area of healthy ageing are expected. The teaching load includes courses in the university‘s bachelor and master programs, explicitly in the B.Sc. programs Health Science and Sport Science as well as in the M.Sc. program Health Science - Prevention and Health Promotion.
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. Applicants should have experience in intervention studies as well as experience in cross-disciplinary research on physical activity in the elderly, taking into account at least one important dimension of the biopsychosocial model. A research focus on, or in close connection to, the life sciences is expected.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor.
