The Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna is the largest Austrian institution of mathematical research and tertiary education in the mathematical sciences. It consists of active research groups in a wide range of fields, starting from logical foundations, bridging all classical core subjects, and up to concrete applications in industry. As part of the Faculty, the Institute of Mathematics represents the entire discipline of mathematics in research and teaching, without making an arbitrary separation into pure and applied fields.

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
The advertised positions are associated with the Faculty of Mathematics in the Research Group on Algebraic Geometry of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Balázs Szendroi (email:balazs.szendroi@univie.ac.at). We are looking for two highly qualified researchers in algebraic geometry, with special interests in higher-dimensional, enumerative or combinatorial algebraic geometry. The successful candidates will be able to actively contribute to the research profile of the Faculty of Mathematics and to teach courses in algebra and/or geometry as defined by the collective agreement (max. 4 hours/week per semester). The candidates are expected to carry out mentoring of master and co-mentoring of PhD students and to assist in the continuous assessment and development of the teaching programme.
Profile:
A Doctoral degree / PhD or similar qualification (achieved latest by July 2023) is required for all candidates as well as experience in teaching and research.
Past research should be documented by publications in recognized scientific journals and international lectures or presentations or high-quality arXiv preprints.
Additional qualifications:
- high teaching skills,
- goal orientation and dedication to scientific excellence,
- international experience preferable.
