The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Göttingen and the
Associated Institute of Applied Plant Nutrition are seeking to fill a temporary
professorship for a period of five years with civil servant status (grade W2
NBesO) at the earliest possible date:
W2 Professorship in
Applied Crop Nutritional Physiology (f/m/d)
This will be a joint appointment by the University of Göttingen and the K+S
An-Institutsverwaltungsgesellschaft mbH.
We are looking for a scientifically recognized personality with a profile that
covers the field of plant nutrition in research and teaching with a focus on stress
tolerance and resource use efficiency, especially concerning essential and
beneficial plant nutrients and the resource water. In research, the candidate
should have a focus on physiological mineral functions in the plant and mineral
interactions concerning productivity and stress tolerance. Experience in the
field of micronutrients or foliar nutrient uptake is desirable. In research, the
position should substantially strengthen the faculty focus areas „Sustainable
productivity, food security, and food quality“ and „Biodiversity and resource
management“ and make clear reference to issues of agricultural sciences.
A focus on crops under productive cultivation conditions in the field is required.
We are seeking an outstanding, team-oriented researcher using current research
and analytical methods with a strong international publication record as well
as experience in teaching and with the acquisition and implementation of
research projects – all relative to the candidate’s career stage.
An interdisciplinary orientation and cooperation both within the Faculty of
Agricultural Sciences to actively contribute to the profile-forming research
foci as well as with other faculties and members of the Göttingen Campus
are expected.
The position involves teaching tasks in the form of subject-specific contributions
to the Faculty’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programs and the doctoral program.
The Master’s programs „Agricultural Sciences“ (Crop Sciences), „Sustainable
International Agriculture and Biodiversity“, „Crop Protection“ and „Soils
and Global Change“ should find special attention. Due to the profile of the
professorship with its focus on national and international research fields, the
successful candidate should be able to teach in both German and English
(after a training period if necessary). The University of Göttingen emphasizes
research-oriented teaching.
